Our job as teachers is much more than just teaching the curriculum. Teachers have students 6-7 hours a day, 5 days a week for 10 months, that is a big part of the growth and development of a child. Teachers play a significant role in the children in their class, from what they are learning from the curriculum and what kind of human beings they become. Teachers and parents/guardians need to be all involved in the development of all of the students in a classroom, everyone needs to work together. Teachers need to be aware of what is happening in the world, they need to be aware of many cultures, and specifically First Nations, Inuit, and Metis so we can teach students about truth and reconciliation.
